The Spur wins their first Miller lite Championship in 12 years! The Spur went 6-0 on the weekend, bringing their tournament record for the year to 8-1. It's been a strong run since the League Tournament championship last year, with the Spur winning 3 of the 4 tournaments we've been in. Sunday was a hot one with a record high of 105 degrees. Luckily pur last pool play game was a forfeit as mentioned before. Getting the #1 seed out of the B pool The Spur took on Grizzlies Energy. What was suppose to be a home game for The Spur turned out to be the away thanks to Keller calling a flip instead of giving us the home side with the higher seed. Welp didn't matter much and gave us an additional inning to bat as the bats stayed alive from saturday with a 17-4 victory. The Semifinal game was moved to 3 and The Spur took on Magnum Electric. Magnum took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Spur put up 4 in the first and never looked back. Though we had leads of 7-1, 8-3 & 10-5, the game never felt like the leads were large enough. Magnum mounted a comeback in the 7th but The Spur stamped it out with the bases loaded 10-7. On to the Championship, our 2nd championship game in 3 years. Right away it was a high scoring affair with the score 11-8 The Spur after 2 innings. In the 3rd Precision had a big inning scoring 6 to take the lead 14-11. During that inning in a sombering moment, Presicion player Wes Krebs took a line drive to the neck, slicing his jaw wide open. Wes did walk off and went to the ER, but it was a scary moment. Precision extended the lead to 16-11 and Scott swaped with Herold to pitch, and as it did at McQuades Herold shut them down. In the 5th The Spur scored 2 to cut the lead to 16-13 and in the bottom of the 6th down 3 Tyler hit a 2 run bomb to cut the deficit to 1. Pickup Colton Hill reached on base and with 2 outs Manager/Fashion Coordinator Jay Danbom, hit a double to the gab and tied the score. Logan Gross then drove Danbom in for the go ahead run. Preiscion was able to get their lead off runner on with a double. But after a fly out, Ben Knight hit an absolute laser right at Tyler Danbom who snow coned it and whipped it to Pickup and former Spur player Conway Heupel to seal the CHmapionship. The Spur hit great all weekend outscoring their opponents 89-35 on the 5 games we played. Tyler had 2 homers oon sunday. Colton had at least 1. Huge thanks goes to pickup players: Colton Hill, Conway Heupel and Dalton Schaefer. Without them we don't even play this weekend.

Wristband guy Chase and Hunter channeled their inner McGwire/Canseco bash bros with 1 homer each. Game 2 was more of the same with a 29-5 3 inning victory over Last Minute Legends. Homers in game 2 came from B and pickup Colton Hill. But before their last game of saturday The Spur got word that Saber Shred Solutions were no shows and we were 2-0.

Thursday before the Miller Lite tourney, The Spur played Ladbury for a tune up prior to the tournament. Much of the Spur roster is depeleted with injuries and people going to the a Country Music Festival. Despite only having the 7 players playing in Miller Lite, 3 pickups helped fill out the roster. Game 1 The Spur put up about 3 runs in the first, but took a 9-5 loss. Chase hit a homer in game 1. Game 2 Ladbury took a 14-7 lead into the 5th, but The Spur came right back in the top of the 5th with 8 runs taking an 15-14 lead, that would lead to a 18-15 victory for The Spur. Chase led off the game with a bounce off the top of the fence homer and TP added a homer with his first of the year. Huge Shoutouts go to Dalton Schaefer, Riley Miller and Lance Rustad for filling out the roster as pickups.

The Spur's McQuade tournament came to an end sunday in the Quarterfinals. Making it to sunday The Spur finished better than half the teams at the largest softball tournament in the world, a top 8 finish in the 42 team "Lucky's Bar" bracket. Tyler hit a 2 run homer in the 1st to take an early lead. But injuries took its toll on the spur with 2 pulled hammies and the Wilton Sportsman Bar came away with the 13-3 5 inning victory. The Bat power that lead to 44 runs on saturday just wasn't there. The end of the McQuade leads the Spur into the mid-season break over the 4th of july holiday. Big thanks goes to Braxton for playing with us as a pickup this weekend.

The Spur's McQuade saturday was a successful one. Opening round game against the Sheyenne Eagles was a hit parade, where The Spur tied their most runs in a game for the year at 26, with the 26-5 victory. Tyler and Will both had homeruns in the first inning. Spur put up 10 runs in the first 8 in the 2nd and 8 in the third. The Spur's second round game was a little different that the first round. The Hated out of Pine Ridge, SD put up 11 runs in the first 2 innings. But after Schatzy and Herold switched at pitcher, The Spur came roarin back out scoring The Hated 16-4 the rest of the way to seal the 18-15 victory. Tyler had 2 Homers and Pickup Braxton had 1. It was a great opening day at the Mcquade for The Spur.

Throwback uni night was succesful in uni related news. A good collection of Throwback unis were represented. The game's on the field didn't go Spur's way much though. Wasted Talent swept The Spur. They look primmed for a good run at McQuades this weekend (edit 6/28 Wasted Talent took 2nd in the other Rec3 Bracket). Well at least it was a tune up for the weekend. After McQuade there's the week and a half mid season July 4th break, but The Spur rolls right back with the Miller Lite Tournament 2 weeks from now.

Well we played the "D" Case this week. We only had 9 healthy bodies. Considering we did ok, 10 might've saved us a run or 2. We scored 6 both games obivously so it wasn't quite the hit parade. 0 homers for the evening for us. And Case may of had 4 total as well. Wind was a factor. Anywho we stand at 5-5 going into throwback uni week.
ROSTER CHANGES
STUFF YOU SHOULD PROBABLY READ | JUNE 15th
A few roster changes here. Easton moves over to Midas, and we pick up Nick Sobolik when he's not playing legion. And we obviously also added Logan Gross earlier in the season but here's where I talk about it.

HEY! Great draw finally for the McQuade. Times on the Bracket are posted in CENTRAL time. Saturday we play at 12:10 central and then 6 pm. And when we make it to sunday first game on ether side of the bracket is at 11. I don't ever recall getting such a great draw for times. Spur Bats were hot this week! Game 1 ended with a big 6th inning where Spur put up 8 runs to cap off the nearly run rule 17-8 victory. Game 2 Spur took off where they left off, scoring 8 in the top of the 1st and never looked back. Homers this week were, B with his first of the year. Chase with his 2nd of the year and Tyler with his 7th. All in the 2nd game. Will also had a triple. Schatzy got both W's. But everyone hit pretty well. Logan (Tim), Doc Dave, TP, Hunter, Manager/Fashion Cordinator/Webmaster Jay, E and whomever else I didn't mention.

Spur does the splitskies again. Game 1 was a victory capped off with a Homerun by Will. Schatzy won game1. Game 2 was a tough 20-14 loss in 8 innings. The Spur did throw 4 Wasted Talent players out at home plate. Chris Herold recorded a hard fought loss, but this was his first game in 6 years and pitched well. Will ended the night with 2 more triples giving him 4 on the year. Still messing around with site layout things. I may replace this game review with a dashboard of stats in the future. So enjoy.

The Spur opened the 2026 season under the lights against Champion X on South 3. Game 1 looked like The Spur didn't miss a beat from last year with a 21-11 win. Tyler Danbom had 2 homers including a game ender. Game 2 didn't go as well as game 1. Champion X won 24-14. All in All in was a good start to the season. Unfortunately with RAAB retiring that left a vacant spot for the first week triple leaders , Hunter and Paul tied with 2 and Will got 1. Tyler hit piss missles and finished with 4 homers on the night.
2026: NEW STUFF ALL AROUND
STUFF YOU SHOULD PROBABLY READ | MAY 14th
Welcome back for year 19 of The Spur softball! If your a regular fan, you'll notice things finally changed a bit on the website. Fresh clean design is loaded. Also our league and roter saw some changes as usual. The Good 'ol classic league looks a tad different. For the first time the old Donnie Budweiser/Armys/Busch Light team that had been around for as long as I've played retired. Ladbury had been a team on and off, but had been dormant the last few years and now they're back. Wasted Talent, Case and Midas all return with us. Champion X from the lower league last year did move up. Roster fourth string backup catcher Raab, both Rodi's and C-way retired. We added some youth and some wiley vets. New roster additions include:
2 Easton Hugelen
23 Chris Herold
25 Dave Pryzmus
27 Will Easum
As for veterans, Herold who was the long time pitcher for rival DTE comes over and joins his stepson chase and nephew Tyler. He adds depth to the pitcher position. Dave Pryzmus who's played for Buschlight most recently last year also has played for SUPER TEAM Fisher back in 2008 and the resurrected Fisher team in the late 2010's/early 2020's. Pryzmus won a McQuades and a state title with them. Youngins Easton Hugelen and Will Easum come from Tyler's legion team a trend we hope continues in the future. Uni's will be the same ORANGE/WHITE/BLUE combo we went with last year. New hats will be flex fit flat bills, a change from the adjustable truckers we had the last 2 years. Well, with the way the season ended last year and the immense talent we added, we hope to have more fun this. If you want a printable schedule download one here.
WHAAA?! NEW WEBSITE 3.0
STUFF YOU SHOULD PROBABLY READ | MAY 14th
Well, well, well. For the first time in 7 years, its a brand spankin new website! I know what yer thinkin'. Well it took you at least 5 years of saying a new one was coming to make a new one. So its going to take forever to update everything else on the site. And your probably right. A quick Spurbar website history lesson. I'd done websites for my teams since 2004. I contemplated a site in 2012, but the wheels started turning in late 2015 and the beta site was laid out. I tweaked it a bit in 2016, but by fall of 2017 I was fully immersed in learning CSS and Javascript to create our site. And in May of 2018 Uncle Jason's Spurbar softball site was live. In 2019 2.0 was released. From there the layout was the same from 2019-2025. Thanks to some critisim nbny Brandon I got my butt in coding gear again. Some things that are going to work way more smooth is the code I wrote for the standings to just update and slot teams in the right spot just based on their record, and the code figures all the other stuff out. What position the team is in, their winning percentage and their games behind the leader. Also the next game widget is automatically populated so as soon as our game ends, the next week's game populates automatically. But by far the biggest change to the site is that it's now "responsive" or "adaptive". Your next question is "Jay what in the heck's that even mean?". Well DJ's always complaining "WE NEED AN APP", and well I aint got no time for that. So instead I wrote the code so that the website responds to which screen your viewing it from. i.e. A phone, a tablet, a PC or Laptop, or even a widescreen monitor. So now it's way easier to read the site on your phone. And if you want the site as an app, go to danbomsoftball.com and bookmark the site and save it to your home screen and VIOLA! This is app-ish? Anywho. I'm having some layout issues depending on what device your seeing the site on so yeah things will change here and there for the next few months!
